“Message From Chairman”

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I feel extremely privileged and honored to be elected as the president of Asia Oceania Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOSPRM). I will treasure this occasion and do my best to serve the society. Since I am also selected as the vice president of the Internal Society of Physical Rehabilitation and Medicine (ISPRM), I will take this opportunity as a suitable platform to boost the international image of our society.

As most of you still remember, our society hosted an extremely successful 2nd Asia-Oceanian Conference of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOCPRM) in Taipei, April of 2010. More than 1,200 participants all over the globe registered and participated in this event. In this conference, we showed to the world the most advanced developments of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in the Asia and Oceania region. We have shown to the world that the Asia and Oceania region can be a major driving force in the development of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, both in clinical medicine and in basic science research. As a result, it is crucial that there should be more collaboration between the Asian and Oceania countries in the years of come.

During the past few years, I have flown to numerous countries to actively participate in the events of international scientific communities and to strengthen our ties with the academies of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in other countries. Our society also acts enthusiastically as a forum to help these societies. For instance, our society has sent our member to Sao Paolo, Brazil, in October of 2010 to conduct workshops in the XXII Brazilian Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in teaching them how to perform ultrasound-guided injections.

The 3rd Asia-Oceanian Conference of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOCPRM) will proudly be held in Denpasar Bali of 2012. I strongly urge all of you to show your support for our society by attending this conference. This conference is also a good time and opportunity to present your latest work to the participants from all over the world. I look forward in seeing all of you in this conference.

Once again, I am extremely honored to be elected as the president of AOSPRM, and feel so proud to have the opportunity to serve you and the society. I will continue to do my best to consolidate the reputation of our society and to enhance international collaboration with the Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine academies in other regions of the world. Please feel free to contact me if I can of any further assistance to you.

Sincerely yours,

Simon FT Tang
President, AOSPRM
